“It’s never enough, is it? Time. We always think we have so much of it, but when it really counts, we don’t have enough at all.”
Synopsis:
When a reaper comes to collect Wallace from his own funeral, Wallace begins to suspect he might be dead. And when Hugo, the owner of a peculiar tea shop, promises to help him cross over, Wallace decides he’s definitely dead. But even in death he’s not ready to abandon the life he barely lived, so when Wallace is given one week to cross over, he sets about living a lifetime in seven days.
Thoughts:
When a book makes you laugh, makes you cry, makes you think and gives you all the feels you know it’s going to be a 5 star! This is exactly how I felt reading Cerulean Sea. Granted this book is different and touches you in a different way but both books at the heart are about love and acceptance! Walter is a highly unlikeable character but is human and learns what it truly means to live and love. The side characters were all quirky and endearing in their own ways. There is even a sweet dog in the lineup! Like Cerulean Sea this book is full of great quotes that really tug at your heart. One storyline of the book that I really loved was the relationship between Hugo and his grandfather Nelson. I was very close with my grandfather and this just struck a chord in me. All the tears for that one! Anyway I don’t want to give anything away but just say this a beautiful book that I won’t soon forget!
